This is Eye I, a video which is a close up of my eye, and vocal of stammering saying I, trying to express my thoughts/feelings.
As a self portrait, the eyes are the window to the soul, these eyes are looking round, unsure, blinking, cautious. The voice, wanting to express itself, hesitant, doubtful, insecure.
It can be so hard to speak
There is a canon of work of female self representation, and so much that can be said about feminism and the self portrait. My interest is in finding our own way of representing ourselves. This is a really early work, my first video in a gallery space. It expresses my ever present self doubt, yet the strength to keep trying.
